Why Should You Buy PS5 For GTA 6

According to Sony, GTA 6 “plays best” on PS5, and it’s partly true. Let me explain. Compared to the Xbox Series S, it’s a day-and-night difference. The PS5 can handle GTA 6 at 4K at 30 FPS in Quality mode, and rumours suggest a “Performance mode” with support for 40 FPS. Also, you can expect way better graphical fidelity compared to the Xbox Series S.

Apart from the improved graphics, Sony claims that GTA 6 takes full advantage of the DualSense controller. This means you get all the haptics and sounds when exploring Leonida. There’s also support for Tempest 3D AudioTech for an immersive sound experience. It will also offer instantaneous loading times with the PS5’s SSD, and the PS5’s adaptive triggers are something you don’t get on Xbox.

For those looking beyond GTA 6, owning a PS5 gives you access to Sony’s first-party exclusives such as Wolverine, God of War Laufey, and other upcoming titles. While PS Plus doesn’t give you access to the latest titles on day one, new AAA games and indie titles are added to the service every month.

Another win for Sony is the fact that the PS5 is officially available in India, so you get a warranty. This means not only do you get access to Sony’s vast service center and offline stores, but also an assurance that it can be fixed in case something goes wrong.

Coming to the downsides, the PS5 is inherently expensive in terms of hardware as well as the subscription service. You are paying 5K over the Series S for the console and ₹100 more for PS Plus Deluxe compared to Game Pass Ultimate.

Why Should You Buy Xbox Series S For GTA 6

The biggest advantage in favour of the Xbox Series S is the price itself. It is the cheapest console you can buy right now to play GTA 6 on day one. Apart from saving money, you also get access to a vast library of games with Xbox Game Pass.

And unlike the PS5, you do get access to new Xbox titles on day one, except for Call of Duty titles. Although you do need to have an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription for day-one access.

While Rockstar claims that GTA 6 is best optimized for PS5, it will also be available on day one for Xbox Series S owners. The catch is that the gameplay is likely to be restricted to 30 FPS. Since the Series S is mostly a 1440p console, it is likely to rely on FSR upscaling.

The internal resolution (before upscaling) is likely to be somewhere around 720p-900p, which isn’t the most graphically appealing option. Also, don’t expect any performance modes on the Xbox Series S thanks to its weaker hardware. Another downside is the reduced graphical fidelity, as Rockstar is likely to scale down textures and other settings to optimize it for the Series S.

This is essentially a step down from the 4K output of the PS5, which is rumored to offer a performance and fidelity mode. Xbox Series S, due to its weaker hardware, is primarily a 1080p console best suited for those looking to play GTA 6 on a monitor instead of a TV.

Another concern worth noting is that Xbox officially does not sell its consoles in India. This means if something goes wrong, there are no service centers you can visit for assistance. The Xbox Series S is a good option if you want the cheapest way to play GTA 6 without bothering about the graphics or the resolution of the game.

Xbox Series S Or PS5: Which Console To Buy?

Unless you are on a tight budget, the PS5 is the better console to buy for GTA 6. Not only do you get better graphics and resolution, but you also get better haptics, an official warranty, and access to upcoming PS exclusives like Wolverine and God of War: Laufey. It is indeed worth the extra premium over the Series S, as you get a much better console overall.
