14 Exclusive Pixel 11 Features That May Not Come to Older Pixels

The Google Pixel 11 series launched without much fanfare, since it looks nearly identical to its predecessor on the surface. But underneath the familiar design and modest Tensor chipset are some genuinely useful software upgrades and UI improvements. Whether you’re a longtime Pixel owner or thinking about switching to Google’s ecosystem, here are the 14 new Pixel 11 features worth checking out.

Note: At the time of writing this article, Google has mentioned on its support page that these features will be exclusive to the Pixel 11 series. We will link to the feature’s respective pages wherever possible below.

All 14 New Pixel 11 Software and UI Features

1. “Rambler” For Natural Voice Typing

One of the most useful Pixel 11 UI features is Rambler. As the name suggests, it lets you ramble naturally just like your everyday conversation. This means it filters out words like “um” and “ah” when conversing with your friends. It automatically adds punctuation and can even add emojis if you ask it to. The best part is that you can type while dictating and switch languages mid-sentence. You can even create grocery lists, and the feature even supports Hindi. To really put it to the test, I played Eminem’s “Rap God,” but even Rambler couldn’t keep up.

2. “Magic Capture” Extracts Photos From Videos Automatically

If you shoot a lot of video and don’t want to miss precious moments, Magic Capture can automatically pull photos from your footage. This new Pixel 11 Camera Feature is useful if you’re recording an adorable moment with your kid or pet; it can hand you shareable, Instagram-ready photos. It uses on-device intelligence along with Gemini to analyze around 400 frames and produce 12 megapixel images. Better yet, it automatically applies edits like cropping and unblurring, so the photo is ready to share right away.

3. “Camera Looks” Makes Your Photos More Aesthetic

Want to give your photos a more aesthetic touch? This new Pixel 11 camera feature called Camera Looks lets you apply a filter right at the processing stage. It’s similar to the Leica Vibrant and Leica Natural options on Xiaomi phones, or the Camera Presets found on Nothing phones. You can choose between Natural (less emphasis on detail), Shadows (improved contrast), and Vanilla (better saturation), along with six additional styles: Digi, Black Tie, Minimal, Editorial, Classic, and Velvet. Each style can be adjusted to your liking for the perfect look.

4. Google’s Creator Suite Turns You Into A Vlogger

For all the vloggers and content creators out there, Google has a bunch of new Pixel 11 camera features with Creator Suite with the following features:

• Teleprompter: As the name suggests, it enables a teleprompter that automatically scrolls when you talk. You can add your own script, customize the font size, and even adjust the scrolling speed.
• Projects and Storyboard: It can automatically sort all your videos into different project files on your device. This didn’t work for us despite several attempts, but it’s a useful idea for creators who want their clips organized. The Storyboard feature lets you further arrange clips in sequence to build a usable video.
• Audio visualizer: It’s a small yet nifty feature that shows a visual readout of the audio picked up by your microphone. This is a good way to test your audio equipment or the frequency of the sound you are trying to record.
• Speech Enhancement: If you are trying to record a video in a noisy environment, the Speech Enhancement feature can help. It can automatically filter out background noise such as traffic, crowd, and wind to amplify your voice.
• Social Media Grid: It adds a grid to the viewfinder based on the average viewable area for most social apps, handy for anyone filming content for Instagram or TikTok.
• Dual Previews: Exclusive to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, it shows a preview on the outer screen of the person you are recording while giving you a real-time feed as well. It helps your subject stay in focus and also works on the selfie camera

5. HiLight Lets You Check On Phone Calls (Pixel 11 Pro/Pro XL/ Pro Fold Only)

If you pick up any Pixel 11 Pro model, including the Pro Fold, the first thing you’ll notice is the RGB light on the back. Called HiLight, this new Pixel 11 feature glows when the phone is face down, and you’re talking to Gemini. You can also assign one of five colors to a favorite contact so the light glows when they call. It brings back some nostalgia for the notification LEDs of older phones, but it feels like a missed opportunity since it only activates during Gemini conversations or phone calls. It would be great to see Google expand it to show unread notifications and messages from third-party apps, which would bring it closer to Nothing’s Glyph lighting and make it far more useful.

6. Convert Sign Language To Text In Real Time

The Pixel 11 series introduces a new SL2T (Sign Language to Text) AI model that converts sign language gestures into English text. Available within Gboard, this Pixel 11 software feature uses the phone’s camera to translate ASL as you sign. We tested a few common gestures, and the phone recognized them accurately. Google says support for more sign languages is coming, and the model already tracks more than 130 points across your face, body, and hands.

7. New Proactive Assistance Powered By Gemini Intelligence

Remember Magic Cues from the Pixel 10 series? It’s back, smarter, and renamed Proactive Assistance, and it’s now more than just a chatbot. This Pixel 11 UI feature can handle multi-step tasks across more than 40 apps and understands context thanks to Gemini Intelligence. So if a friend texts asking where dinner is tonight, it can show nearby restaurant suggestions on its own. Google also says Proactive Assistance will eventually open up to third-party developers for integration.

8. New Location-Based “At A Glance”

Pixel’s At a Glance feature has always been a handy way to stay updated on weather, upcoming appointments, and active timers. The Pixel 11 UI feature improves it further by using your location to surface information about nearby restaurants and stores. Walk into one of those restaurants, and it can show food recommendations, loyalty card details, dish reviews from other users, and more. The feature is currently in preview in select locations, so we weren’t able to test it on our Pixel 11 Pro.

9. Live Translate Now Works In Podcasts And Videos

Google’s Live Translate feature now works across videos and podcasts. That means if you’re watching a video in a foreign language, you can get real-time translation powered by Gemini. Right now, this Pixel 11 UI feature works in YouTube and a handful of third-party apps, though Google hasn’t said exactly which ones. I watched a YouTube video and some Shorts in Spanish and was prompted to translate in real time. It detects the language automatically, though there is a noticeable lag when more than one speaker is talking.

10. You Can Now Use Circle To Search In The Camera App

Google’s popular Circle to Search feature is now built into the camera app. You can use it to look up items or translate text directly in the viewfinder. It offers the same functionality as Google Lens, without needing to open a separate app or toggle. It’s simply a more convenient way to access a feature that was already useful.

11. Instant Night Sight Makes Taking Low-Light Shots Quicker

Most Pixel users swear by Night Sight, a Pixel-exclusive feature that captures stunning night shots. But the long processing time makes it tough to photograph moving subjects or hold the phone steady long enough. That’s new Pixel 11 camera feature Instant Night Sight comes in. It cuts the processing time for low-light photos by 4.5 times compared to earlier Pixel phones. Like several other features on this list, it’s exclusive to the Pixel 11 Pro series.

12. Extreme Charging Mode

Google has introduced a new Extreme Charging mode for the Pixel 11 series that drastically speeds up initial charging. In just 30 minutes, it can get the Pixel 11 Pro XL to 75 percent, the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro to 55 percent, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold to 50 percent. It works by pausing background tasks and letting the phone run hotter to boost charging speed. However, we weren’t able to test this ourselves on the Pixel 11 Pro, even with less than 50 percent battery and a 30W+ charger as Google recommends.

13. New 120x Pro Res Zoom (Pixel 11 Pro/Pro XL/ Pro Fold Only)

The Pixel 10 series introduced 100x Pro Res Zoom powered by generative AI. This new Pixel 11 camera feature pushes that further with 120x Pro Res Zoom, exclusive to the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The results at full zoom are barely usable in practice, but it’s still a fun party trick for impressing friends or sneaking a peek at your neighbor’s yard.

14. Pro Stable Video (Pixel 11 Pro/Pro XL/ Pro Fold Only)

Google is introducing a new Pixel 11 camera feature called Pro Stable mode. It kicks in automatically when you’re jogging or filming in a shaky environment, combining traditional stabilization with AI to deliver smooth 8K video through Google’s Video Boost. The one catch is that there’s no manual toggle. It only activates on its own.
